HOW IT WORKS

Equities + Options Premium

JEPQ’s equity portfolio is built using J.P. Morgan’s proprietary data-science process. The options overlay uses one-month out-of-the-money call exposure designed to generate distributable income.

The trade-off is important: option premium can support income and reduce some volatility, but the strategy may give up part of the market’s upside during strong rallies.

Income Engine

J.P. Morgan describes distributable income as coming from stock dividends plus options premium. The level of option premium can vary with market volatility.

High monthly income should therefore be evaluated alongside total return, NAV behavior and the upside surrendered by the options overlay.

Key Risks

JEPQ remains an equity investment and can lose substantial value. Its options strategy can reduce participation in strong upside moves, while monthly distributions are not guaranteed.

  • Nasdaq/growth concentration
  • Options-overlay complexity
  • Forgone upside
  • Variable monthly income
  • Equity drawdown risk
